Online vs. Paper Application

With the online application now available, is there anyone on here who has a minor family member and submitted an application separately? i.e. the parent sent the application online and a separate paper application for the minor? If no one has done this, any advice if this would make sense?

I am aware though, that processing time of an application is case-to-case -- that many are still waiting for updates while others got DM within the 12th month period (more or less).
