Hi,

I need some advice please.

I previously worked in the U.K. for a very large US company that has a head office in Ottawa. I was there for nearly 3 years & left about 4 months ago to move to the Cayman Islands to work.

I kept in touch with the senior management at my previous employer and they want me to return to the company and work from the Ottawa office as they have been unable to fill a role there that I did previously in the UK.

What would be the quickest route for me to get a permit to work in Canada?

As my current permit in the Cayman Islands expires on 1st March 2018 and I don't want to renew it and I also do not want the hassle of having to relocate back to the UK whilst waiting for a permit approval to work in Canada, to then relocate with my family to Canada.

Would an Ontario Provincial Nomination or an application for a temporary work permit be best?

Or another scheme?

I have not taken any language tests (and will not be able to take one where I am) and I do not have a degree.

I am a U.K. citizen and will be relocating with my wife and two young children.

My NOC code is 6221, level B.

If you qualify under OINP, then I would suggest to apply for it because it has shorter processing time. If you do get approved under OINP, you will get a nomination certificate which allows you to apply for PR along with a work permit support letter which also allows you to apply for a closed work permit.

If you want to apply for work permit itself, then your company has to apply for a LMIA which needs to be approved before it can be issued to you to include in your work permit application. This will cost your employers $1000 processing fee and 4 to 6 months process time with no guarantee to be approved. Also they would need to satisfy advertising requirements to prove that no citizens and PR are eligible to do the job.

You should research more to figure what suits you best.

Thanks, I qualify under the Employer Job Offer ONIP Stream.

How long does it usually take to process?

And how long will the closed work permit take to process after that?
