Online study...Do I need a student visa as a visitor?

Hello,

I have a Visitor Visa valid until September 2015 and have applied for PR via spousal sponsorship (July 2014).
I just wondered if anyone knows whether I need to apply for student visa do do a 3-6 month online course of study.
