Online Processing time for SIN(Social Insurance Number) in Canada

Has anyone applied for SIN online and received it in the mail? Because of COVID, all the service centers for SIN are closed so I was wondering how long it is taking for people to get their SIN number if they apply online?

I applied for vehicle renewal sticker through service Ontario( same place you apply for SIN) and it's going on 2 months now. I stopped by center to ask and was told to come back if I haven't received it after 2.5 months

Thank you for the info but Service Ontario is not the same as Service Canada. SIN is for national ID whereas Service Ontario is for province/state.

True, but I applied for my SIN at the same place. Yes, it's ontario but they handle national services too.

I applied ysterday aswell and gave US address. Has anyone tried that ?

Did you call them and ask them if you can provide the USA address? What about Canadian address proof?

The Proof of address doesn't necessarily mention it should be a US Address

Sure, but I would suggest you call them and just be sure about it.

Just an update, I applied for SIN number online and received it in mail in 10 business days

Just got our SIN numbers delivered on the US Address

Applied from : US
Documents provided: PR Cards, Passport (back + front), US Driving License (Soft landing, no Canada address at the moment)
Issued on: June 11 2020
Received in Bay Area California: June 30, 2020

How do I know if it was issued or not ? Also when I applied online I got SIN application number. Is there any way I can track it ?

you can not track it. you will receive the SIN number by post if it's approved. if rejected, you will receive a rejection letter at your address.

I applied for SIN online from the US by giving US address proof (DL). Received it in 4 weeks at my US address.
