Online Portal Filename Question

Hi all,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I've tried searching but can't quite find the answer I'm looking for.

I am sponsoring my wife through the new online portal and I am in the process of uploading supporting documents. What I would like to know, is when I am uploading a document that is proof for myself (Notice of Assessment, Passport, Birth Certificate, etc) whose name do I use for the naming of the file? My own or my wife's?

Would it be my last name - first name - document - 1 or my wife's last name - first name - sponsor document - 1?

I feel like I am overthinking it, but I am aiming to submit the application in the next few days and just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly.

Thank you!

Do you have the file name instructions over there? Could you please copy and paste them here?

In general, I would say the PA's name should be on all the files. Technically they're the one filling the application, regardless of who the supporting document is for. This is also the case based on other information from IRCC. For example, when emailing refugee sponsorship documents, that's how it's done.

Hey thanks for the reply.

The instructions on the portal are as follows:

Please use the following naming convention when labelling your documents: "Last Name - First Name – Document type - #." For example: "Wong - John - Proof of Education -1."
That's just for the naming convention. I've checked around the rest of the site and that's all I can find as far as instructions go.

That's what I was thinking, as it is my wife's application and it would make more sense to have her name on all the files, and I could indicate that the document is my proof of being her sponsor. Maybe that is what I will do just to be safe.
