Online Applications and TimeLines

I got a reply from CIC that online applications aren't sent to the applicant's home country, but to a centralized queue. Which of course means any office can pick up the application. So the processing times on CIC are deceptive as they are regional.

Based on previous experiences of people and forum sanity keepers like Bryanna, PMM, Jalex what is the verdict on online applications?

Have they been faster than paper applications so far? Have they been historically slower?

Super visa online applicants from Jan 2017 are still waiting for an update while paper based applicants are being processed in under 2 weeks.

Inputs, feedbacks are appreciated.

"Forum sanity keepers"? LOL

There's no statistical data for online or paper Canada TRV applications. You're right about the centralized queue. An application can be processed anywhere in the IRCC global visa office network. So if a visa office has a high volume of applications, the system will pick another visa office to send the application to.

Applications are also processed on a FIFO (First In, First Out basis). Processing times can, however, change significantly if the visa office runs background checks/seeks additional documents or information.

Some countries publish visa statistical data/statistical reports on a quarterly basis, i.e. the number of visa applications received by each visa office, the number of approvals/rejections, processing times taken/time taken for making decisions by each visa office, etc. Such data helps to improve service time, provides constructive feedback to the consulate, etc

People are on the verge of insanity as is dealing with CIC, if it wasn't for souls like you, many would have hopeless days counting down their turn.

I seriously hope somebody gets onto the online applications, it is a fricking sugar coated visit visa for heaven's sake (you get extensions on visit visa anyway), not an immigration application.

A visit visa is still a privilege, not a right.

Not complaining, just saying that their paper applications are faster than online applications, which is a prejudice to online applicants and not a privilege paper applicants are entitled to.

Please read my entire post before enlightening people on the privileges of an applicant, been dealing with CIC for 10 years now, I know how the system works and which song to sing.

It sure sounded like you were complaining there so apologies for misinterpreting your choice of words.

Anyway, I don't think the fact you applied online is the reason for the delay but something with your case specifically. I looked up my GCMS notes on my online app and it was touched within a few hours with an update every other day.

My apologies too if I sounded rude too. Just frustrated with CIC.

We all complain, although my anguish is more towards inconsistency in paper vs online applications, I know a few cases first hand where the applications were processed in just 2 weeks and there are many online applicants just on this forum from January 2017, still waiting for an update.

2-3 weeks and 3 months are not even comparables. I know each case is different, but I don't think they are 3 months of background check different, esp for a super visa application.
