Anyone who applied online? Will i be having a shorter processing time? Since I submitted outside Canada thru online application.

I am also planning to apply online. I had this online assessment if I can do my application online and it turned out I am eligible. But I am having doubts about the process, especially about the handling time. As per Canadian Embassy website, student visa application done through the Manila office has an average handling time of 15 weeks if submitted on paper. If this is true, I may end up arriving in Canada way behind the 1st of September... If someone has an experience on applying online, please do share how your application went. Thanks!

I submitted my application 9th of April. I checked the processing times it takes about 40 days. So it is much shorter. When do you plan to submit yours?

I'll be submitting my application within this week. I am still waiting for my new passport since it is a requirement that my passport must be valid for the entire duration my study, which is 4 years. Wow! 40 days is really faster compared to 15 weeks. Thanks for the info!

It's ok to submit with passport not within the duration as long as when you enter canada you have at least 6 months before it expires since you can renew your passport at the phil embassy in canada and as long as it is valid. I have submitted mine and the expiry will be next year. April 21, 2014.

My Ms-PhD program is to last for 4 years and they say they will not be renewing my permit if my passport expires before the end of the program. My previous passport was to expire on Sept 2014. This is how it is written: "Each passport should have a minimum of two blank visa pages and minimum 6 months validity. If possible, your passport should be valid for the duration of your study period as a study permit cannot be issued beyond the validity of your passport." I interpret it as the student permit is cancelled once the passport expires and you have to re-apply for another study permit (by that time in Canada) using your newly issued passport. I renew mine just to strictly follow the checklist and limit possible reasons for visa denial.

About the passport renewal, you don't have to go to Ottawa to have your visa renewed at the Philippine Embassy. This is a five-hour flight and can cost you a minimum of $1000. You can renew your passport in the General Consulate Office in Edmonton or in Vancouver whichever has passport renewal services.

Regarding funding, many bloggers say you have to have at least $30,000 as show money. I'll be having a $20,000/year worth of stipend from my research supervisor. I have this document saying he's provide me that amount. Do I still have to produce this amount?

By the way, which university are you attending and under what program?

I have admission in seneca college for a diploma of electronics engineering - broadband cable. Its just the same course i had here electronics and comm engineering. But right now i am currently employed as a corporate accounts officer for 2 mos now which is not related in my line of study. And also my mother already paid tuition fee for 1st sem out of total 4sem in my course. How about you?

It's in Toronto, right? I'm attending University of Calgary this Fall 2013 term for graduate studies on Veterinary Medicine. I'm not paying my tuition yet since I'm planning to apply for a deferred payment scheme where I pay in 4 installments over the 4 months of each term.

I think the embassy here in manila will be the one who will require us to submit our pp. I still don't have any updates re: my online applications. What documents have you submitted? Did you include SOP on your application?

I submitted the Application form for the study permit, Family information form, Schedule 1 form, Digitized photo, Letter or admission, Proof of funds including official fee schedules, Study plans, Scanned copy of my passport.

I submitted my online application april 9. Have you provided letter of explanation?

Not necessarily a letter of explanation but I attached a study plan, including possible research projects and how I intend to finish my studies. I even sent them a timeline starting from Sept1, when I start my studies, up to August 2018, when I am supposed to finish everything.
