Hi everyone. I am applying for citizenship at the end of the month. I have completed the paper application but now I am thinking that I should submit it online as it seems to be going a bit faster.

However, how would I upload the required passport photo to the online application?

There is an option to upload the digital photo on the online application. You will need to also submit a separate file that contains the photographer information like a receipt.

Thanks! Did you ask the photographer to send the separate file with those details? Not sure where to find those who provide it via email.

No, I uploaded the receipt itself. You can also upload a simple text file with the photographer information. The instructions are in the online portal.

I have the same question, I took my photos at Costco and the photographer's information(e.g. name, address, the date that the photo has been taken) is printed on the back of the photo. So, should I scan the photo and its back?

No, the instructions clearly indicate that you cannot scan the photos, they have to be digital copies. Costco does not offer that service, try Shoppers.

Sure store offers it. Caveat is that they make you buy their flesh card, prats )) check out Staples too, not sure, but they might have it

I dont have a receipt and the online uploader wont let me upload a text file, if I send a PDF with the photographers info would this pass? Ridiculous that they demand a text file yet their upload doesn't support it...

I wouldn't worry too much about technicality, just upload the pdf of the photographer's info. They want to know who took your pictures.

Yes, I had the same problem as wouldn't upload text file that I asked from the photographer, so I just uploaded a pdf document with photographer's information.

Instructions clearly indicate you can!

You must upload a digital file of the citizenship photo.

  • A commercial photographer must take your photo.
  • You may upload a picture of a printed photo that the photographer took (for example, with a scanner or mobile phone).
It clearly says, in the instructions where you upload the photo, that a scan using your mobile or scanner is okay.

They updated the e-app portal and changed the instructions. My comment was 5 months ago :)
