Hi,

I am thinking of Applying for Canadian PR.

I think I might be eligible but I am super confused when it comes to Work Experience.

Now my situation is this:
- I have 3.5 months work experience in my NOC from December 2019- March 2020.
- Then unfortunately, due to covid, I lost my job and I was unemployed for a period of 9 months.
- I have 9 months experience in the same NOC from January 2021-now September 2021 which is 9 months.

So, I understand by the time they consider my case, I will be able to gain more experience considering my employment will still be continuous.

Currently, do I still have 1 year worth of experience?

Someone guide me please.

You don’t have a year of experience to be eligible for Express Entry. For Express Entry - Federal Skilled Worker - you need one year, continuous experience in one NOC. So when you have that at the end of December with your second job, you can then apply.

Is this foreign work experience that you want to use to qualify for FSW? Or Canadian work experience that you want to use to qualify under CEC?

If it's the first, then what you have does not qualify as one year. The work experience needs to be continuous and yours is not with the 9 month break. You'll need to work another three months at your current job to be able to claim 1 year.

Yeah it is foreign work experience. What about if I apply now wouldn’t my pool open sometime later and that would qualify me?
Also our full time work here in Australia is 38 hours. Isn’t it case officers discretion?

You can’t enter the pool because you are not eligible if you don’t have one year continuous work experience. Working 38 hours doesn’t give you more hours. You need one year (1560 hours).

As said above, you won't be able to enter the pool right now since you don't meet the minimum requirements (because you don't have a year of work experience).

You need 52 continuous weeks where you worked 30 hours or more per week. It doesn't matter if you work 30 hours or 40 hours or 60 hours in that week, it's still only counted as 1 week. You need to wait another three months before you'll qualify.
