Hi everyone,

I stay in Canada and i work under noc 0 category as a store manager. My skilled work experience starts from August 2014 and as per under express entry cec, i need atleast 12 months full time experience which will be completed next month dat is August 2015.

But during this period I went on a Vacation for two months which was unpaid but my company pays me Accrued Vacation which I get in my every paycheck I receive.
My question is: Will this vacation of two months count in the one year period of completing my experience? Or do i have to do three more months to complete my one year experience?

Thank you in advance

Your unpaid vacation will unlikely count. Ontario PNP explicitly asks applicants to show any leave of more than one month. CIC does not, but if they know your extended leave they will likely deduct your period of work experience.

Somewhere on the CIC website states that CIC will find a leave of two weeks in a one-year work experience to be reasonable. As long as CIC finds your leave to be reasonable (about two weeks) then they will count those two weeks as a part of your work experience.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/cec/work.asp

I suggest you file your application after two months. Getting your residence two months later is not too much of a deal. Some of the guys here have waited for 5 or 6 years and are still in the process.

CIC will accept a "reasonable " amount of vacation (written as "example, 2 weeks"). So you could probably count 2 weeks as vacation, but the rest - you will have to work the extra time.

The fact that your vacation is payed out with each paycheck should be stated in your letter of employment. That is usually given as a percentage to cover 2 weeks (e.g. 4% vacation pay).

If you plan to apply as soon as you qualify, you should also write an explanation of your unpaid leave, that 2 weeks were vacation, the rest was unpaid leave.

But I would suggest giving yourself some extra time before applying, that way this whole issue of vacation vs unpaid leave doesn't matter so much.
