Hello guys,

I have a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and planning to take a project management graduate certificate in one of the approved DLI institutions in Ontario. the length of the program is one academic year (two semesters). I know that I am eligible for a study permit, but I am worried that my application would not be strong since it is a one-year study program. I am financially stable and I can cover the tuition fees and my personal expenses. Does anyone applied for a one-year study program and get the study permit approval, please?

Thank you all

Do a masters at a university. Try avoiding Ontario or BC, it looks better if you choose elsewhere.

There are lots of great post graduate 1 year diplomas. I would choose these. They are well regarded. I don't see why a one year program is an issue for an immigration officer, especially if you make a case about why you would like this designation. George Brown for example has a really well recognized construction school and with your engineering background doing a PM post-grad diploma there seems to make sense, for example. Choose a good school, publicly funded and not private as well.

I almost have a similar profile except that my bachelor degree is in international business management, applied for a Project Management Graduate Certificate in Ontario but two years program instead of one year so I would be able to get a 3 years PGWP. So far I only received the AIP. But aside from all that, I believe that the most important part is that you choose a program that would really REALLY make sense to the visa officer. In my case, Project Management made perfect sense because my scope of work in most of my work experience included Project Management duties but I explained in my support letter that I am keen to have a degree in Project Management so that it would have the official Project Manager title and salary. I included all my experience letters and even a link to my LinkedIn profile for the VO to see recommendations from colleagues and mentors and also confirm my Job description. So my advise is, make sense, always make sense in your study permit application.
