On what scenario "Source of Fund" is requested by CIC? TO:Asivad & other experts

I'm confused about when and why would CIC ever want to know about the "Source of Fund" of a particular candidate. Is this process compulsorily carried out on all the candidates or is there any specific scenario for this happen? Please do clarify my doubts.

It is mandatory for all applicants. CIC needs to see whether you own that money or not and if not from where did you get it. That is why it is asking for six months average balance.

They don't want you to be a liability on them.

Sorry for another silly question. But I heard that CIC would question the candidate about the fund if there was any recent and large fund transfer just before the EE application.

1. Could you guys please explain what is meant by the term "recent"?
2. I have sufficient fund in my savings account now. The average balance is stable for about 6 months. Will they still question me about its source?

"recent" means in the last 6 months.
If u r maintaining the balance, you should be good.
