Hi,
So my wife and I have booked a trip and just got the letter for the PR interview which is a couple days before we leave. I was wondering if it's an issue leave during this time.
Thanks
Do you mean the landing interview to become a PR? If so then yes, there could be a big problem if you are flying somewhere outside of Canada.
It takes a few months to get the PR card in the mail after doing landing interview. When trying to board a plane back to Canada, she will not be eligible for an eTA since she's a PR, so must present either a valid PR card (which she won't have) or a PR Travel Document to the airline.
A PR Travel Document must be applied for to local visa office in the country you're visiting, Since this can take several weeks and involves mailing your passport, you need to make sure your vacation is long enough to get it.
Only solution without a PR card or PR Travel Doc, is to drive into Canada from USA land border.
If none of this works for you, then you'll need to contact CIC and ask to postpone the landing interview until after your vacation.
