Hi
I became a Permanent Resident in 2023 and got my new SIN#. I updated the SIN# with my employer and my banks immediately, but forgot to inform Manulife ( where I have a group RRSP plan from my employer). For Tax filing on 2023, it was okay to file taxes with Old SIN#, since all my documents showed the previous SIN#. But for 2024, all my documents except RRSP tax receipt show the new SIN#. Can I use this RRSP tax receipt ?

Thank you

This is just from our personal experience. We became PR in May 2023. Updated our SIN and informed our employers. However, my wife’s payroll officer forgot to update the SIN in my wife’s T4. Filed tax in March 2024 under new SIN, but wife’s T4 was under old SIN. Did not posed a problem, tax filing was still processed without any issue.

I think this is because when we update our SIN, there is a record of the old SIN under our names (I could be wrong).

Will wait for others to comment as well.

***Edit: Forgot to mention our savings account T5 is still under old SIN and we recently filed for TY2024. Already got our NOA.

The old temp SIN is linked to your new SIN . It’s on your master file . Only issue maybe that they have to re register for their my account with the CRA since the old sin is the master and needs to be updated with the new sin
