I have recently done my landing and completed my PR process under CEC category.

I have been living and working in Canada for years now, and have a SIN # based on my previous work permit (starting with 9).

When I go to pick up my new SIN #, will they properly merge it with the previous SIN #? All my previous tax returns, TFSA, RRSP information is very important for me.

I know of someone who did this recently, and he is being consider as a completely new person. He had to create a new account and nothing from his past returns are seen there.

In most of the cases, old sin and new sin is linked.
Incase they are not linked, the tax professional gets your consent and notify CRA that this ******** is the new sin of this person and CRA links your old record with your new sin....nothing to worry about.

In my case, it was automatically linked and H&R block guy told me that if it is not linked, all I have to do is sign the consent form and it will get linked with my old record.
