Old CEC and EE CEC

Hi Guys,

I am sure a lot of guys who had applied for their PR in 2014 under CEC have this question or have though about it. I am tired of waiting for my application to be processed and thinking about applying for CEC under Express Entry. But I do not want to withdraw my current application that I have with CIC untill I know I got in through EE.

So my question is it possible that I can apply for Express Entry when my old application is with CIC? Is this allowed? Will this affect anything? I know what the advantages of doing this but is there any disadvantages?
