OINP Northern Immigration Points Concern for Laurentian Master's Student

Hi everyone,

I’m currently pursuing my master's degree at Laurentian University and looking into the OINP Northern Immigration rules. I understand that completing my studies at Laurentian should give me 10 points since it’s in Northern Ontario.

However, I’m thinking to live in Toronto and working part-time while completing my degree. I’m wondering if this could affect my eligibility for the 10 points under the Northern Ontario category. Has anyone else been in a similar situation, or does anyone have insights on this?

Somebody asked this exact question a few months ago. You are commuting 4-5 hours (more in winter) each way? How many days a week? Another person on this forum was asked for proof of residency during processing and was going to lose points, and that person had lived in the city for 3 of the 4 semesters. So live in the city you are studying.
