I wanted to see if anyone could help me answer a couple of questions.
My husband is in Canada on a temporary 1-year closed work permit (employer specific). His work wish to keep him on (on a permanent full -time basis) and would be willing to help him with OINP.
OINP information states that:
Employers must demonstrate that reasonable efforts were made to recruit a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident prior to offering the position to the applicant, unless:
If not, will the new job offer from the employer be subject to an LMIA assessment, despite the fact that he has already been working for the company and would be best placed to continue in this role?

- the applicant already has a valid work permit to work in Ontario, or
- the employer has a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for the position
If not, will the new job offer from the employer be subject to an LMIA assessment, despite the fact that he has already been working for the company and would be best placed to continue in this role?
