I have heard that for getting OHIP benefits a continuous presence in Canada for more than six months is mendetory
That is if you are Absent for more than Six Months continuously, you can't get OHIP benefits.
Pl enlighten if this is True .
In order to qualify for OHIP, you need to spend 5/6 months in Ontario right after you settle there and after that it's 5/12 months. If you don't fulfill that, you should actually lose your OHIP and have to do the 3 month waiting period over when you re-settle.
Using your OHIP when you actually should have lost it is considered health care fraud. If you get caught, you would have to re-pay everything they paid for you as well as you could have some legal problems.
If you move out of your province, you should always let your health care know to avoid any problems.
