A friend of mine is a foreign worker (3 year Work Permit) (came to Canada in 2011 to study in college). She has been employed by a hotel since May 1, 2014. She is also a seasonal worker and her contract will be over in the middle of October 2014. So its slightly over 6 month.

Can she apply for her OHIP coverage right now? She is in the middle of her employment contract but seems like she meets all the requirements anyway:

Temporary foreign workers who hold a valid work permit (checked) may be eligible for OHIP coverage. The worker must be employed full-time for an employer in Ontario for a minimum of 6 months and (checked):

Maintain their primary place of residence in Ontario; and
Be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12-month period, and
Be physically present in Ontario for 153 of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province

If the dates above are right, that's only 5.5 months....
