So I might get a job that which status is "Part Time Temporary", I will get Full TIme Perm after a year. The thing is this job, per week, has more than 40h work hours. Which is more than an average full time week.

I have called the OHIP people, and they insisted that they need to see a letter that says my status as full time (and nothing else and they don't care about the hours) and put the end date that is similar to my work permit end date. Otherwise, if they only see "will work for company x for at least 6 months" they say they're only going to cover me for 6 months.

I don't need how comfortable I am asking an employer for a letter like that. Especially a letter that spells out my eventual work expiry date, the position is supposed to be permanent and asking them this will make it very clear to them that I might be gone after that day and are less likely to hire me.

So my question is, is this really the case. I am not sure when but I really thought I read that to get OHIP you can have as many part time jobs as you want, and if they add up to more than 37.5h you'll be covered.

I mean I can't imagine using travel insurance for the entire length of my work visa. They've very limited coverage and you can only see a doc AFTER something obvious happens to you.

Thanks.

assuming the full term is stated in your job offer, try to ask for a letter like

"[s3nr1] is currently employed with a Part Time Temporary position that has a weekly workload of [XX, e.g. 40] hours per week, and is for more than [XX, e.g. 10] months from this date... [s3nr1] employement will become permanent full time starting on [XX date] with a weekly workload of [XX hours]..."

I'm not sure that's going to work - but I guess worth a try.

Those who are temporary workers do need to provide a letter that states that the job they hold now is full time. This is a very specific requirement on the OHIP site. I've had a few employees go through this over the last few years and OHIP seems to be very firm on this. I've had to ask HR to re-do letters because what was provided the first time wasn't accepted by OHIP. Based on my experiences, they won't accept a letter without the "full time" wording description for the employees current role.

This requirement is spelled out pretty clearly on the OHIP site:
