I came to Canada in March 2011, to meet my man for the first time. We had got to known each other online and really fell in love....so we decided that I would joyn him here in Canada, to see if our love would grow as we met....and it did :)
Now we have been married for 18 month and we are so happy together. So one Swedish lady and one Canadian man became a very happy couple.
Our application is all sent in....with everything they wanted....and my husbands sponsorship application is complete....at least they say so. And I had to send my background once again and now they want a proof of my divorce from Sweden (I got divorced 1994)....and that should not be a problem to get.

It took me and my husband 6 month to gather all the papirwork together, for our application. And wow was that a stressful time. So so scary. And we have been and is still so scared of doing anything wrong, since we done it all by our selfs. So I wish we had known about this forum way back. We have had so many questions during this process....and so few to ask. But we have done as best as we can.
Medical done
Police papers is sent in
Family letters
photos
+ many more things.

I have my own income. Im retired in Sweden for a panic attack disorder. Ive had it for 25 years and is handling it on my own today with meditation among other naturall thing. But since I am retired in Sweden I have my income for the rest of my life from them.
The scary thing is that Im so scared Canada immigration will say no to me because if that. That Im not perfect enough. I have been totally open with everything....so I just hope they will let me and my hubby stay here.
Thats the only cloud we can see.

Will they say no to me and no to my husband to sponsor me due to this you think?

And if we get approved....what will happen then? I heard that we first will be approved as a first stage (if we are and we hope we will be)....but what will happen then? Will there we a second stage? And what does that second stage mean?

This has been the most stressful thing in our lifes. Its so scary to put all our future in tha hands of people we never met. But I guess we are all in the same boat in here.
I can't wait until all this is over and we can lean back and just enjoy our wonderful life together.

I read about all the stress many of you have to go through, having only one income until its all done. I'm so sorry for you guys. And I'm so happy me and my husband wont have to go through that stress too, since I have my income from Sweden, even if I live here in Canada. I don't know how we would have handled that stress too....it's stressful enough just not knowing as it is.

I am so sorry if I made some spelling and grammar misstakes....I hope you guys understand me anyway :-*

Hey!

Velkommen! :) are you applying inland or outland?

For the medical issue: spouses are "exempt from excessive medical demands" - or something phrased like this. Canada will refuse your application if you are contagious... so panick attacks are not a contagious disease, it should be fine, especially if you have had it for a long time, and you are managing well...

If you are applying Inland> you have sent your application to Vegreville, and stage 1 is about 6 months now, so just sit back and relax... and wait to hear from them. Once they approve you for the first stage ( AIP - approval in principle), then they will send your file to a local CIC office, close to where you live. and you wait again! :) not much to do there.

If you applied outland: you have sent your application to Mississauga. First stage is currently a little over 1 month. Once you get the sponsorship approval, your file is sent to London ( as it is the referent for Scandinavian resident), and there, it can take anywhere from 3 months (for the very very quick files) to 9 months. so - waiting again!

For now, there is nothing else to do than sit back, relax, and try to keep yourself busy... as you said, you are in a good position because you already have an income from Sweden, so there is no financial stress for you. That's great! You can keep busy by reading this forum, and if you apply outland, you can join the "UK outland thread " where people are in a similar boat... if you apply inland - there is also an Inland thread, where you can read about timeline, communication from CIC etc...

Wish you a smooth process,
Sweden :)

You cannot get refused over a medical condition that is not a hazard to the Canadian population. (In a spousal application)

Don't worry

Tusen tusen tack mina kära landsman :D

Im applying inland. Or we are :)
Our application is all ready opened by immigration in Vegreville.....it was sent in in April 2012. So all that is happening now is a few updates. They want me to send in a proof of my divorce in Sweden. It wasnt enough with a personbevis from Sweden....even though it clearly shows when my divorce became finale (1994) and from whom I divorced. But Im not nervous about that....I think the tax office in Sweden wont have any problems sending me one.
So Im guessing we are in the end of the process....I hope.
But WOW it has been a comfusing and scary time. The first 6 month, while we were gathering all the documents, were absolutly the worst. My husband and I didnt know anything about anything and we took it one step at a time. A few times we were close to hire a lawyer to help us...because we felt like we were drowning in all the papers and we were so scared to do anything wrong. But now when all is done, its just the scary wait left.

Thanks again for your answer. kram :)

Oh Im so sorry you are worried too ((((HUGS))))
I can tell you in all honesty, that I fully understand your feelings. Its scary being scared to get judged....its scary be scared to be judged as not good enough. I wish we could and would be able to know exactly how they think and judge....so we could be more relaxed during our times of waiting.

Where do you come from? And where do you live?

We live in BC in a small town called Marysville. Surrounded with beautiful nature and mountains....and lots of wild animals :D And we both love it.
My husband moved from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan one month before I arrived from Sweden....so we have rebuilt our lifes together here in BC. It was nice that we both "started over" at the same time and could walk through this experience together. And I am so lucky that Sweden and Canada are so simular.....even the weather is the same lol so I felt like I was home from day 1 :)
Hope you feel at home too :)

Best of luck to you too :)

How wonderful!

My weather is completely different from Canada's. I'm from Puerto Rico. No snow over there, hahaha. We are currently living in Ontario. I love Canada. Even though my country is not as similar, I still feel at home. Everyone has been nothing but nice to me here. I truly feel welcome.

Thank you for the wishes! :D

Seems like you are already well advanced in the process, mycket bra! I'm sure Skatteverket will be able to send you what you need soon enough for your file to go forward.
Confusing and scary time for preparation - yes, I think most of us had the same feeling, and for that this forum really helps ( I also stumbled across it when I had sent everything off, and had to learn it all by myself first...but I gained a good knowledge of the system then!). Joining the inland thread will help for sure, because you can see when files are being opened, and when you are more likely to get an answer etc...

If you are almost done with stage 1, you should be getting a work permit soon. I don't know if you intend to work in Canada, but if you have applied for an Open Work Permit at the same time as the rest of the application, you can get it once the stage 1 is completed, which would allow you to look for work if you wanted to.
Lycka till! och kram,
Sweden ( eller Sverige!) :)

Oh...there is so many things I dont understand. Will you help me understand please?

From AOR to in process? I dont even understand what AOR means?
From AOR to AIP?
From AIP to stage 2?
DM?

I dont understand what they mean :-[

I know I landed in Canada March 18th 2011.....stayed on a visitor visa.
Did my medical March 20th 2012
We sent in all the applications June 6th 2012 (including everything they asked for)
and including police record
They confirmed our applications October 10th.
My husband got a confirmation that they recived his application on becoming a sponsor.
I got a message to fill in the background app again. That was sent in again in the beginning of nov.
Now I got a message that they want a comfirmation from Sweden on my divorce 1994.....so Im waiting for that paper to arrive from Sweden...to send that in too.

Do you have everything you need to put us on your list?

From AOR to in process? I dont even understand what AOR means?acknowledgement of Receipt - the first time CIC sends you an email to tell you that they have received your application
From AOR to AIP?AIP is approval in principle, that's the first stage for inland sponsorship... that's when CIC tells you that your husband is eligible to sponsor you, and if you have filed a work permit at the same time, once you have the AIP you can start working. Then your file is transferred to a local CIC office - closer to where you live, so it leaves Vegreville. For you since you are in BC, I'm not sure - might be Vancouver, but probably something closer. Normally they inform you when your file has been transferred, and where it is.
From AIP to stage 2? stage 2 starts when then local CIC office has received your file and informed you about it
DM? Decision Made - that's the end! :) that's when everybody says "grattis" to you :)
