Offer letter as a proof of home ties

I am currently employed with Infosys Technologies Ltd. in India since past 1 year. Can I show the offer letter from Infosys as a proof of my home ties?

As a part of the overall proof you could ask for a letter from your employer stating that you are on holiday (leave of absence) and are expected to return on a certain date.
If that was the only item, I doubt that it would be sufficient.

The retrospective job offer letter in itself does not mean much in fact it does not even show that you are currently employed by infosys. What you need from infosys is a letter stating they will keep your job open whilst you study abroad in canada and on return you will re-employed. This letter from infosys needs to be taken in context with all your other evidence of ties to your home country. What other ties do you have?

What is the duration of your course in canada? It is highly unlikely that any employer will keep an open job offer upon returning if your course of study is way too long so it will go against you. You need to prove home ties some other way. Sometimes I feel like getting visa is all luck so say prayers.

Thank you all for your replies. I will be re-signing from my job when I leave for Canada. And also, they won't keep the employement open for 1 year. So , I think that is not the option for me. What are the other ways I can prove that I have strong ties with my home country.

Showing ties to your home country is probabily the most difficult aspect of any visa application particularly if you are going from a developing to a developed economy. Two years back I went to Canada to study and I had no problems getting a student permit because even though I am Pakistani by descent I was born in the UK and am a British Citizen. The reason I was able to get the visa was because I was from a developed economy, the chances of me overstaying or refusing to leave canada was slight. Now if I had applied as a Pakistani Citizen I know for certain I would not have gotten the visa based on the same documents that I had submitted.

As a citizen of India or any developing country you need to work overtime to prove your home ties and it is not easy unless you plan things a few years ahead of time. Let me give you a simple example say I want to show ties to Pakistan 2 years before my application what I would do is send letters by post to my family and friends in Pakistan. When it comes to the visa application 2 years down the line I have a dozen or so letters with stamps etc showing international posting. This is strong evidence of family and friend ties because you cannot make such things up in a couple of months.

The important aspect of any "tie" or "association" it should be time dependant; the longer the period the stronger the "tie".

In the short term there is very little you can do, other than say have a job offer waiting, or getting married and leaving your wife in your home country, or buying some land.

These are my thoughts on this issue.

I have been residing in South Africa for 5, last year I went back to my home country to visit my mother and my fiance,I have a daughter born in April this year. Last year I was denied a study visa of Canada, the officer said that I do not have ties to my home country. Can you please assist how can I show that I will be back to my home country after my studies.
