I want to apply for OCI for my family. Starting November 2024, they require a voter ID surrender undertaking. I came across some blogs mentioning that people’s OCI applications were rejected, even if they submitted an undertaking without surrendering their voter IDs.
Question: Has anyone applied for OCI after November 2024 without surrendering their voter ID, and still received approval? (Given the current political tensions between Canada and India, I don’t want to take any chances.)
(P.S. I’ve started the process to surrender the voter IDs online, but it's stuck. No one in my household can physically go to surrender them, and I’ve filed an online complaint as well, but that hasn’t moved either. Essentially, there’s a deadlock at the voter ID surrender stage on the Election Commission of India’s online portal.)
