Obtaining work permit while studying english

Hello everyone,

I have a question that hopefully you can help me with,

I am planning to go to Canada to study English for about a year or so. I am planing to bring my spouse with me. So my question is the following:

Can my wife get a work permit during the duration of my program to work with me? I know that the program can't be an ESL program. Do anybody know a different type of program that qualifies for Open work permit where I can learn english as well?

In case the answer is positive, what are the courses and requirementes to apply?

I don't know of any program.

Note that just because your spouse qualifies for an OWP doesn't mean the OWP will be approved. We see plenty of refusals here.
