Obtaining temporary work visa while PR from outside Canada in progress?

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. Hope I found the right section for this kind of question.

I am currently living with my Canadian wife in the Middle East and we began my PR application from outside Canada earlier this year. She has already been approved as a sponsor, remaining time for my PR to process should be around 9 months if everything goes to plan.
Today I came across some really tempting job vacancy in Canada, which would be a dream of a job and I might be a good fit for that position.

If I would get a job offer, I'd be eligible to get a one year work visa under the International Experience Canada Programme, since I am an EU citizen and below 35 (Young Professionals Category).
My question is: Assuming the job application would work and I would immigrate under the above mention scheme, what would that do do my PR application from outside Canada? I have read all possible FAQs but no one ever seems to have documented such a case. I mean: wouldn't that totally mess up my application process? I'd be in Canada then while a visa office in the Middle East would still handle my visa application. Would it be even possible to continue the PR, or would I need to re-apply on the 'from within Canada' track?!

Any experience with similar cases? I'd really appreciate some advice!

Cheers,
Pablito

applying for a work visa will not affect your pr application at all. the PR application will continue processing as normal while you live and work in canada. you do not need to "reapply from within" and switch to an inland application, as there is no rule that states outland applicants can't be in canada as a worker, student or visitor while their application processes. if an interview is called, it will be where your application processes. when they are ready to issue your visa, more than likely you will receive instructions for submitting your passport if you are in canada at that time.

if you can get approved for a work visa while your application is processing, that is great! If you end up here on a work visa, you will want to change your address with CIC so any mailed correspondence gets sent to you in canada. there is no issue with this at all.

Thanks a lot for your advice! That's good news for me. The prospect of potentially having to travel back to the visa processing office for my interview is a bit annoying, but I could handle that.
