Hello, I am currently living and working in the US, and applied for Canadian Permanent Residence through Express Entry. It was approved (received COPR) and I have until next winter to enter Canada to obtain permanent resident status. Given that I have a job in the US, I am not planning on moving to Canada immediately, but would still like to obtain permanent resident status for the future. Is status obtained as soon as one enters Canada through an airport, or are there any other tasks that need to be completed, and how long can I expect this process to take?
I am hoping to both get my Canadian permanent resident status and go to a US consulate to get my H-1B stamp for re-entry into the US in one visit. Would this be possible? Thanks in advance for any advice.
