Hi,

I am from India and I finished my Masters at University of Alberta in May 2016. Currently, I am on PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) which is valid till June 2019. I don't own any Canadian Driving License currently. While reading the Alberta Driving License application rules, I came across the GDL exemption program. It was written that Indians, under 25 years of age (which I am) and with less than 2 years of driving experience, will be eligible for Basic Road Test.

I am going to India in October. I will be getting my Indian Driving License by the end of October. Then, once I come back to Canada, I can use my Indian driving license to enter into GDL exemption program. However, since my license will be less than a month old, will I still be eligible for Basic Road Test?

Any help regarding this will be much appreciated. If I am eligible for the Basic Road Test, I won't have to hold Class 7 Learner's License for one year.

Thanks
