I applied for TRV in person on March 6 and it has been 20 days and I still got no response. I need to attend a conference in Toronto next week and I am still waiting to hear from them. What should I do at this point? I see that some people got their passports back in a week. They told me that it would take 14 days; it has been three weeks. I need to know if I will be able to attend the conference. My name is on the speakers list already; it would be really humiliating if I do not hear from the council on time. What should I do? Email them?

The processing time for NY is now 20 days. It can take an additional 10 days for background checks depending what country you are from.

Unfortunately there is really nothing you can do but wait. You can certainly try emailing them. No harm there.

Next time submit the application online rather than in person. Online applications get priority processing.

I realized there are many people who are in the quest for the current processing times for Visitor Visa, and I am one among many. I feel the agony of anticipation and uncertainity. To mitigate this agony, I took an initative to started a database, where each of us can contribute/submit our processing dates. This could be a great source of information as what to expect.

I humbly would like to request everyone to come forward and help the fellow Visa Seekers in this regard!! Please check the following link and post the information.
