Hello,
I am a nursing student and applying for co-op work permit only via online (I already have a valid study permit). I need it for my senior practicum but I wonder if I need a medical examination.
I have a friend who is also a nursing student and she recently applied for study permit extension and co-op work permit together but she did not do the medical exam. My sister is a nurse and when she did her final practicum she also applied study permit extension and co-op work permit together, but she did not do medical exam as well. But she did it quite a long ago so this is not an accurate info. So I called the IRCC service and spoke to 2 people: 1 said I need medical examination b/c I would work in a healthcare setting, the other said I might not need as I already did medical exam prior to entry to Canada (in 2013).
During my stay in Canada, I visited my home country for no more than 6 months. and I already did some different type of medical exam prior to the beginning of my nursing program. and currently doing my clinical practice in a hospital without any issues
If I apply co-op work permit w/o doing the medical exam and CIC requests to do it, can I complete my medical exam outside Canada? I am going back to my country (South Korea) over the summer and if I do my medical exam there, would the medical exam result go to Manila, Philippines?
Thank you.
