Number of Employer Refrence Letter

Hello Experts - I need your help for employer reference letter
I was on work permit in 2010 and then in 2012 with the same Employer ( I am still working with same).

Even the roles and responsibility are almost same (Software Developer).

Do I need two different reference letters one for 2010 and another for 2012.... ??
Or Single letter will be sufficient.

In your case, there is a gap in employment. There is no harm in taking one reference letter (being the same employer and same duties/responsibilities) provided it clears lays out period of employment (from - to).

Do note to explain your situation by the way of a covering letter to CIC to address any kind of ambiguity.
