Notified passport is missing from application.

My step-father applied for a TRV through London (not British but living in the UK) via VFS. The application said to send a passport copy along with all the other documents, which he did.

He's received an email to say the passport is missing and to submit by 26th or the paperwork will be returned to him.

There's no word if he's been approved or not (and a couple of things in his application make me wonder if he'll get approved or rejected), just to send his passport.

From the sounds of things - to me - it sounds like they were expecting his original passport with the original application.

Of course, I;m hoping the reason they're asking for his passport is because his visa has been approved but it all seems a bit strange to me.
Can anyone offer any thoughts or advice please?

The passport must be submitted along with the TRV application if it is a paper submission..... to be considered a complete application.

The London VO has not started processing your step-father's TRV application as yet.

So don't get your hopes high.... not as yet. For online applications, a passport request generally means a TRV approval. Still one never knows if a TRV is granted or not until the processed passport is returned

I didn't realise that.

The London VO, where he's applying through, states a photocopy. His country of origin states original passport so although he's applying through London it seems he should follow his on country's checklist.

Thank you, and why is it one can only get proper clarification on this website and not on the official CIC website?!
