Hello quick question here, applied Outland back in January noticed on the country specific guide U.S citizens needed to provide two notarized letters from friends and relatives. I noticed I had 7-8 letters supporting our commonlaw relationship from friends and family included in the application but none of them are notarized?! Is this a big issue, and I did include the statutory of declaration of commonlaw union which was notarized . Any feedback would be nice should I rectify this problem by sending the two notarized letters to CPC-Ottawa once I get AOR and SA?

It is probably OK, but I would send two notarized letters with an explanation that you missed this requirement. Send it once you have a file number so that they can be matched up more easily with your application.

Do they usually mail the Aor and SA letter with the uci number ?

I think your file number will be on any correspondence.

When do I get a uci number then?

depends on the agent working on your application. REcently most have received both their AOR and SA via email, and some received their SA in the snail mail.

Uh oh, I did not see that requirement of two notarized letters. I have not sent my packet in yet, thank goodness. May I ask for a link to this requirement? I checked the US specific and still don't see it. I worry that I may also be missing other items, thus my request for the link. Thank you so much.

It is definitely a requirement for a common-law couple. The following language is usually found in the instruction guide:

If you are a common-law or conjugal partner, provide evidence that your relationship is genuine and
continuing and has existed for at least 12 months prior to your application. Also provide details of the
history of your relationship and at least two statutory declarations from individuals with personal
knowledge of your relationship supporting your claim that the relationship is genuine and continuing.

Thank you. I am so bad at not paying attention to details and I will have someone help me review my packet for accuracy before I send it. I had not paid attention and seen that this for only for common law marriages.

Yea good thing I caught it now and not 6 months in. I will mail those to Ottawa once I get a uci#. Hopefully they can match it up to my application :o

You're welcome.

One common mistake that people seem to make, is sending a form that has been updated by CIC. Make sure you compare ALL of your forms (revision date) with what is shown on the CIC website the morning that you plan to mail your application!

Sometimes, [they] will simply ask the applicant to provide the updated form when they open their package, while other times...they return everything to the applicant!

If they return the whole application will you need to get SA And AOR all over again ?
