Hello All,

I send my citizenship application in November 2013, and I got the letter I need to send new pictures with the stamps. I resent the pictures this week. I have talked with the CIC person and he mentioned that my case is NON routine process because of the document update.

So, what is NON Routine process? What are the steps for the process? Will they want me RQ? What kind of info or documentation will they ask from me? Does thar really takes 36 months?

Thanks

Wait up to 36 months...and see what happens. No one can tell exactly when you will get test or RQ.

Mine is non-routine...applied since 2011. Nothing yet.

Hello NGUYENTU2001,

Thanks for your answer. What document did they ask from you? I was travelling to Europe and USA because of my job a lot. I am thinking that is why they put me in the NON Routine process. Or this is just because of picture? Who will ask RQ if I need? Local office?

Some people got RQ from local,
Some from Sydney.
I sent out tons of documents...monthly statement for the past 4 years of all bank accounts, tax, bills...etc

You can search under this forum for "RQ" or residence questionnaire...there are a lot of posts on this.

How can a non-routine case be because of updated pics. Why would the CIC need extra set of pics? it's confusing.

Interesting.. They are asking documentation for last for years from Application date or last for years from current date?

Did Sydney or local office ask you RQ?

Thanks

I talked with CIC. The person said to me I am in Non-routine process and I asked him this is because of unstamp pictures, only for this mistake. He answered YES.

I am not sure my case is non Routine because of pictures. I have travelled a lot because of my job. That is why they might me put in NON Routine.

I came to Canada with Provincial Nominee ( H1b Holder)

Your file unlikely to fall under RQ process of applicant such as 2010 to 2012. I noticed many applicant who applied in early 2013 and received RQ, getting their test now. Since you have submitted application in Nov,13 even CIC call center tells you Non-Routine case, still your file could move faster and perhaps may not take even 24 months. Whether they will send you RQ or not that is separate issue altogether not linked with your new photo..

I agree! it may be just a few months, not 36 months at all.

Will I get the RQ for sure if that is non-routine process? Or non-routine means they will check my documents more?

I assume i will get the RQ. I do not have all my rent aggreement for the past. But I have all the credit card transactions and also my passport, my car lease-insurance. Are these enough? What else should I prepare for the RQ? I want to start the collect my documentation now...

I am sick of preparing documentations for almost 10 years on my life:)))

Yes, like you many applicants having tough time to satisfy CIC. However, in your case it is not certain that you will get RQ. But in case they send you RQ, yes, you will need to prepare all the documents you listed. As for rental lease, try to get letter from room mates or friends with who you have shared the residence along with a copy of their lease to proof that you had residence in Canada..

Your case is a non-routine because you have failed to submit documents requested by CIC or in the format requested by CIC. In this case, you have failed to provide stamps on your photos. This makes it a non-routine case. Simple as that.

Hello - This pertains to a NON-ROUTINE as well:

I live in Mississauga and I got a PRE-TEST RQ last year (July 2013). I sent all the requested info within 5 days to 3085 Glen Erin Drive in Mississauga as it was the only return address in the cover letter. My question is that is there any way of finding out where the applicant's citizenship file is? Do you think that since my case has a pre-test RQ, could my file still be in Sydney (NS)? ... and they just asked me to send the RQ supporting documents to the CIC office in my city of residence (Mississauga) in advance in an effort be more efficient and save time? This way CIC will already have all the RQ documents ready when the file actually arrives in Mississauga? How does one know?

Also, after meeting my RO, I applied to renew my PR card. When I check my PR renewal application status online, it says that they started processing on XXX date, and the file has been sent to the Hamilton office and that they may contact me if required... HOWEVER, when I check my citizenship application status, it only says that we started processing your file on XXX date. BUT, there is no mention of something like "its been sent to the Hamilton or Mississauga office" similar to the status details for the PR card application. That's the reason why I wonder about the location of my citizenship application. I hope the requested RQ documents I sent were sufficient as I did not hear from CIC again, nor did they send me a reminder of any kind, or a request for additional info (Thank God !)

I know RQ cases are delayed until CIC feels like working on them, but if there is a slim chance that my file has been transferred to the local office... typically, on average, how long can one expect to get test invite?

I am a bit concerned, so ANY comments on my questions would be appreciated. Thank you.

fasnoon,

PR Card process on ecas has more info provided relative to the citizenship process. The latter does not provide a 'transfer to Local Office date'. You need to call CIC and ask the question "on what date was my application transferred to the Local Office". Check the post mark on the envelope you received the RQ - does it state Sidney or Mississauga? You are in a fast Local Office and will likely oath in 12-15 months unless your ReQ response is not convincing and you need to see a Judge for an in person hearing. Were you self employed/ unemployed in the 4 years with extensive/any travel? Any ME residence visas? This from access to privacy request is the main trigger for RQs.
