In your opinion... do you think it will hurt us to marry quickly in a beautiful setting with only HIS brother and sister as witnesses? I'm a US citizen, he's Canadian, we're marrying in Ontario. We're only doing this because we want to begin the immigration process sooner rather than later. We plan on having our formal wedding next year where all of our family and friends can come. Two months notice isn't going to do that. Thank you :)

As long as you can prove that your relationship is genuine it shouldn't be a problem. Just be aware that they may look a little closer at all the evidence you provide them. Good luck!

Along with that, we're planning on sending written letters from both our parents explaining why they can't attend. (Such short notice, unable to afford the trip). But we have pictures of me with his parents, and him with my parents, within the last couple of years. I'm hoping that by having our formal wedding next year instead, they won't frown upon it. Thank you, James.

could you please explain - a little closer - what way is that?

A rush wedding, few people attended, family was absent.... combine that with other circumstances and it could spell to CIC "fake marriage". That is why they might look a little closer. Doesn't mean they'd inspect everything closer, but they will require an explanation as to why it happened as it did and other evience will be even more important. And because nyssa will provide them with plenty of relationship proof and a good explanation for the wedding, she will have no issues with this, I'm sure :)

They have to look at the whole picture. A rush wedding with few family members could be an indication that something fishy is going on, but as long as the other relationship evidence is strong, it's not an issue.

Mitamata - =] Yes, I'm pretty sure we have a good amount of proof. We've been living together for two years, but were seperated at the US/Canadian border last month. Wedding-wise, we were going to have it in October, but found out his Mom wouldn't be able to make it (she used up her vacation time) and my parents were strapped for cash as well. So we figured, we would have a private wedding this July (my mom didn't want anyone else to be there if she couldn't, and with his mom unable to make it... you see the point... I just hope the IO does!!!) and renew our vows a year later with our family and friends around. If he were able to get into the US (not sure on this one) we would have the wedding here.

But who knows!! Our plans are still in the works a bit. =/
