Non-accompanying Dependant changes mind

My wife's son has now stated he wants to come to Canada also. I have already put in the PR for my wife and listed him and his brother as non-accompanying but they have done all the paper work to be sponsored later.

As he is only a few months from 22 years of age, can I send notice to add now that he has decided on her PR that is just starting (I have been approved as sponsor but the papers just got sent to Beijing).

Didn't they change the maximum age for dependants, from 22 to 18?

The age won't come into affect until Jan 2104 . They it changes to 18 .

Timster, call CIC and your MP and clarify, then once you know the proper procedure, do it ASAP. Or you can re-post this and change your subject line to add "Seniors Please Help". Then the more experienced members can see it and hopefully chime in. Blessings.

So I called CIC and they sent me info on what is called a "ADD-ON" to application, which can be done prior to the decision made for PR for my wife. I have to do two new sponsor forms, send that and showing payment, letter explaining the situation and his birth certificate. Also to contact the visa office (Beijing) to let them know. If he was in Canada, he would have to do a PR application also but not needed in this situation. I have to send the forms to the Mississauga office like my regular sponsor information the first time. I have to also make sure I put the word "ADD-ON" on all documents and reference my UIC number.

Will do this this week so should be done in plenty of time to be part of the PR review.
