Hello,

I submitted my application about a month and a half ago, and I applied with my NOC as 2171.

After looking at the other NOCs, I'm confused about whether I should have picked 2173 instead.

Here are my job duties (as per my employment letter):

• Configure a variety of document lifecycle applications (Capture, Management, Archiving, BPM)
• Using .net framework, customize the applications to meet client's unique needs
• Work closely with the Internal and External Project and Functional Managers
• Build training materials and execute training to end users
• Occasional in house technical services

I'm mostly a systems analyst, which is why I picked NOC 2171, but I do the development as well and I didnt see the other NOCs before.

Is this a big deal? Can your application get rejected if you do not select the correct NOC?

Please advise. Thanks.

If they ask why you chose that you need to explain the reasons according to that NOC duties. I did that when I changed from 2173 to 2174. Those reasons should be convincing by making contradict with other NOC duties. you can mention I do "this" which is relevant to 2171 but in 2173, it is mentioned about "that" which I don't do. You need to provide 2-3 similar reasons.

e.g. from my reasons why I chose 2174 over 2173:

I write codes for an application which is more relevant to NOC 2174. I don't create wireframe model for an application which comes under NOC 2173. (Contradiction)

Also wanted to know if I should use NOC 2171 or 2173 as I worked in USA as Quality Analyst at one place, Software Engineer Test and then as Consultant-Testing, thank you in advance for clarification
