Hi guys ,

I need help in finding the NOC code for my job title. I work in an hospital foundation as a gifts processing assistant . My basic duties include processing cash/cheques/credit card donations and printing receipts as well. I also escalate calls from donor to the right staff when necessary . I have other duties and can list if need be.

My main concern is I contacted the NOC office about the code to use and they werent sure as well but gave me the accounting and other related clerk NOC Code, which I know doesn't qualify for PR. Am now in a dilemma as to which code to use and if really my job qualifies.

Another thing is that do they consider annual income for a job when processing ? As my income in considerably above average.

What do you guys think . Any help will be appreciated .

Without you telling us all your duties, we won't be able to help you out.
Post all your duties and we'll see if we can figure something out.

Looks like it's a mix between:

1422 Data Entry Clerks: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Profile.aspx?val1=1422 ( skill level C/D - not eligible ),
6552 Other customer and information services representatives: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val1=6552 ( skill level C/D - not eligible ) and
1434 Banking, insurance and other financial clerks: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Profile.aspx?val1=1434 ( skill level C/D - not eligible )

Maybe someone else wants to chime in on this?

It does look like the NOC code you were given (1431 Accounting and related clerks) is a pretty good fit. As you pointed out, this is skill level C. Anyone else?

To answer your other question, being overpaid does not affect your case either way (being underpaid might).

No, if your job is not skill level 0, A or B you are not eligible and the pay doesn't help your case.

Basically your duties decide what your occupational code is. Salary doesn't.

Being paid too little might be a red flag that makes them scrutinize the work experience more closely (for example someone who is nominally a supervisor but earns a minimal wage).

No one is really worried that foreign workers are paid too much.

unfortunately, the nearest "skilled" NOCs, such as administrative assistant (1211) and accounting technician (NOC 1311) are excluded from the CEC class, as well...

You don't say what province you are in, or whether you earned a degree/diploma in Canada, but your best bet is checking into the provincial nominee program for your province -
