Here are the duties listed under this NOC:

-Management consultants perform some or all of the following duties:
-Analyze and provide advice on the managerial methods and organization of a public or private sector establishment
-Conduct research to determine efficiency and effectiveness of managerial policies and programs
-Conduct assessments and propose improvements to methods, systems and procedures in areas such as operations, human resources, records management and communications
-Conduct quality audits and develop quality management and quality assurance standards for ISO (International Organization for Standardization) registration
-Plan the reorganization of the operations of an establishment
-May supervise contracted researchers or clerical staff.

Johnny31,

Honestly, I've been staring at that description and trying to suffle things around and am running out of ideas.

Do you think this could pass? Just your friendly opinion... Thanks a lot!!!

It looks right to me...

Thanks jes_ON!

Appreciate the thoughts. Just worried about their interpretation.

i think its fine. you wouldn't want your duties on your job letter to be the same exact word-for-word with the duties listed by the government.

Thanks Johnny31!

I just talked to CIC and was told that my job title "Management Intern" may be grounds for refusal, and further deferred me to CIO Sydney. All comments I read however place little value on the title, as long as the description is good. So confused now.

What do you guys think? How much weight do they place on the title?

Call Centre person probably associates Intern with an Unpaid Intern. Call centre personnel aren't Visa Officers and don't interpret your application (just to keep in mind)

Your duties matter the most, but I'm sure the officer uses your title to help assess the application. If it's a paid position, and you were doing the duties stated, then I don't see this as a reason for you being denied.

The word "Intern" is the reason why they told you it may be grounds for refusal. That would worry me as well, if I need to apply under an Intern.

Any chance you could get that word replaced to specialist, analyst or consultant ? it sounds way better to be one of those than an intern.

I know they mainly look at "duties" but you want to give CIC as little room as possible to refuse your case. Rather be safe than sorry!

seton,

Fair point and I personally was using the same reasoning.

Johnny31,

Unfortunately, since its a government agency, they are not willing to play ball at all. They are quite strict with regulations. Especially in this climate, having a foreign national work here with an official title could be perceived unfavorably.

Trying to think of a way to get around this. Perhaps a letter explaning why they gave me this title?

If you can't change it, just go with what you have. Wish you best of luck!

For my application I sent an email to hrsdc (Human Resources and Skills Development Canada - search this forum or my previous posts to find the email) and listed the duties in my reference letter and asked if it would pass as NOC 2171 and within two weeks they emailed back and confirmed it. that's the best professional advice you can get on this topic. Even the best lawyers won't be able to make a call on this. I paid for one and she was really good but didn't have a clue about my technical duties!

Found it. Emailing them as we speak. Another set of eyes cant hurt. Thanks a lot for the suggestion!!
