Dear All,
I am having hard time to get a NOC code for post-doctoral fellow.
I am currently associated with a canadian university and conducting post-doctoral research fellow in water resources modeller. It has some duties as Hydrologist, some as environmental engineering, too.
As posted in previous threads, the NOC code 4011 (University Professors and Lecturers) might not be appropriate as post-docs are not teaching for most of the case.
What about using NOC 2148 and Engineering Scientist (http://noc.esdc.gc.ca/English/noc/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=2&val1=2148&ver=11&_ga=2.14231217.722217501.1496166780-836976182.1495665211&val65=engineering scientist) which state "Engineering physicists and engineering scientists conduct research, develop processes, programs and equipment to expand fundamental knowledge in the applied sciences and engineering and to support advanced engineering and scientific applications".
However, a similar description is in NOC 4011: "Conduct research in field of specialization and publish findings in scholarly journals or books" which also closely aligns with the duties of a post-doc.
Some suggested to use the code of field of specialization, and for my case (Hydrologist) is NOC 2113 which as some duties that are sutable to me, such as: "Conduct theoretical and applied research to extend knowledge of surface and subsurface features of the earth, its history and the operation of physical, chemical and biological systems that control its evolution", "Develop models and applied software for the analysis and interpretation of data" etc.
If I use Water Resources Engineer under 2131 Civil Engineer, none of the duties are applicable. The duties listed there are more for a site engineer rather than research.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
