Hi guys,

I am applying for FSW under NOC 1241(admin assistant) and may receive an ITA on the 15th. However, after I received my letter of reference, I realized NOC 1241 and 1411 (General office support workers) are very similar and I didnt take ths into account earlier to advise my employer accordingly. Please help me assess if the duties are closer to NOC 1241 or 1411 or maybe another NOC I havent considered.

Thanks!

This is to confirm that XXX was an Administrative Assistant with XXX Organization from XXX to XXX and worked for xx hours a week. XXX duties during this period were:

1) Preparation, editing and proofreading of student reports, documents, correspondences, examination questions, inter-departmental memos and presentations
2) Set up and maintain manual and computerized student records such as student data, statistics and examination results of students
3) Assist in the collection and distribution of interdepartmental office mail and inter-departmental memos to the relevant offices
4) Welcome students to ascertain purpose of visit, direct them to appropriate personnel and schedule appointments when necessary.
5) Assist in ordering and signing off for office supplies and preparing invoices
6) Assist in making travel arrangements for Program Manager
7) Answer and relay incoming telephone and electronic enquiries
8) Research, edit and proof read publications and reports when required
9) Actively take steps to resolve missing results complaints
10) Assist in distribution of student examination dockets
11) Provide other clerical and administrative support such as printing, photocopying, scanning as required

Thank you.

I think you are right to be concerned, some of these duties are more clerk/receptionist.

It helps to add a little context, sometimes the context is enough to distinguish between NOCs... (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse). For example, it sounds like maybe you work at some kind of educational institution, perhaps in a registrar's or student services office - it would help to describe that.

Another NOC to look at would be 1221...

Given what is at stake, it wouldn't hurt to ask for the ESDC opinion (the link that andy provided). Just keep in mind that their opinion is not binding on IRCC.
