Hi all,

I am currently employed as Quality Control (QC) Officer in Biomedical industry and I am wondering which NOC should I assign to myself. I have Master's from Biotechnology and I used to work as Analytical Scientist in the same industry for over 2 years. Acquired experience allowed me to move over to my current role, which is office based. Here is short description of my role along with some of my duties:

"To provide support and assistance to analytical services group to ensure quality requirements are met at all times, to facilitate product release in accordance with development programs or specifications and stability testing programs"

- Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment

- Writing up and reviewing Deviations, Change Controls, Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions, Quality Incidents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

- Ensuring departmental quality records are progressed to agreed timelines

- Organizing and leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) meetings

- Overseeing assay control by regular data trending

- Preparing monthly departmental metrics

- Preparing weekly reports for Head of Department

- Actively participating in departmental audits (including FDA audits)

- Performing statistics (for metrics, assay troubleshooting, etc.) using specialized software

- Review of QC and stability documents to ensure testing is performed to agreed timelines and appropriate quality

- Developing, updating and validating Excel-based spreadsheets used for QC-release and stability assays

- Maintaining QC databases and Certificates of Analysis/Testing to ensure data integrity

- Providing support to Sample Management team by receipt, issuance and shipment of samples

Some of the duties performed as a part of my role are also applicable for Quality Assurance (QA) positions in other companies. As mentioned, my role is mostly office based and I am not doing any laboratory work anymore.

I tried looking for correct NOC and the closest one I found is NOC2233 for "Industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians", however I am not completely sure if that is the correct one.

First, I am not an engineer in any sense - my background is scientific and I used to work as Scientist before. In addition, some of the responsibilities mentioned in that NOC (i.e. design plant layout) are not applicable to my current role, however at the same time I do meet some of the other requirements. Is that NOC even applicable to biopharma industry?

Is there anyone with similar position who could assist me with my search? I would be very grateful for any help I can get.

Kind regards.
