NOC Code 2171 or 2281..Need clarification

Hello Expert users,

can you please help me in choosing right NOC code. Below are my job duties performing from last 5 years

· Design and customize architecture diagram blueprints for different environments using vRealize Automation tools 7.2 and remodeling Nutanix Prism UI for IT enterprise security and runway planning


· Develop and publish architectural framework based on simulations using Micro Focus LoadRunner to forecast systems performance under varied conditions – CPU/RAM intensive load, operating systems, latency, IOPS, etc.

· Restructure and transition legacy hardware, operating systems and applications (End of life, old generation) to compatible, scalable and stable systems pertaining to Enterprise servers lifecycle management and obsolescence project

· Envision redundant and scalable systems solutions for virtualization technologies viz. VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM, software defined storage- Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor, MS Azure managed IaaS, cloud data management backup – Rubrik

· IT Infrastructure security enhancements via REST API, micro-segmentation and template hardening to remediate recent vulnerabilities and ransomware attacks


· Formulate technology assessments via VMware vRealize Log Insight tool to establish system benchmarks addressing operational requirements, quality requirements and design constraints

· Achieving automation objectives to encourage Artificial Intelligence adoption by conducting proof of concepts

· Proposed and implementing solutions to standardize Multipathing software for storage devices (FC, iSCSI, etc.) to saves the license cost by removing EMC Powerpath and migrating to native MPIO and Veritas Dynamic Multi-pathing(DMP)

· Evaluate investments in IT Infrastructure technology solutions: Hybrid cloud v/s public cloud, storage and virtualization systems efficiency, remodeling data center footprints to save power and floor space


· Responsible for managing virtualization hypervisor( VMWare ESXi, Nutanix Acropolis) license renewals and Azure cloud licenses subscriptions, directing Nutanix hyper-converged and HP c-7000 blade enclosure hardware procurement decisions

· Capacity planning and management using VMWare vRealize Operations Manager 6.6 on systems performance metrics and growth patterns to avoid load glitches for high volume days based on company projected sales

· Identify, research and test emerging technology trends to promote innovation by leading technical discussions with vendors like VMWare, Microsoft, Nutanix and HP


· Compile technology roadmaps by establishing hardware and software tests methodologies for systems interoperability, portability, cost, compatibility and usability

· Collaborate with Infrastructure/software engineers, business and project teams for understanding requirements to design conceptual and detailed Infrastructure solutions


· Partner with IT leadership to identify and prioritize architectural opportunities for utilizing IT effectively to meet organizational objectives and establishing enterprise best-practices


· Timely progress status to project managers, technical architectural board through presentations, technical reports and weekly meetings

2281 seems to be better option.

But your job duties are too complex and it is better that you simplify them and build it with simple English taxonomies. Otherwise the officer may not be able to tie it to a NOC and they may reject your application. Also it needs to match with the lead statement of any NOC that you go for. Lead statement is basically the paragraph that you find after your NOC title in NOC page.

Best way to do this would be pick any NOC you feel that loosely matches to what you do, and build your job duties aligned on that. Not an exactly copy paste, but a paraphrased version with very mild flavor of technologies (can be totally avoided too if you want).

For 2281, this is the lead statement:

Computer network technicians establish, operate, maintain and co-ordinate the use of local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs), mainframe networks, hardware, software and related computer equipment. They set up and maintain Internet and intranet Web sites and Web-server hardware and software, and monitor and optimize network connectivity and performance. They are employed in information technology units throughout the private and public sectors. Supervisors of computer network technicians are included in this unit group.

I don't think your job duties even come close to what is given there.

@DEEPCUR thanks for your response. I agree with you that duties i have mentioned are more complex. Basically i am working as System Administrator/Infrastructure Architect role. but my job titles are different ( IT Analyst/Assistant Consultant). but so i read many posts which say title doesn't matter. please confirm if it is true.

i can make more simple duties which can be understand by VO. 2281 lead statement is very generic level 1 support engineer tasks which i use to perform 9 years ago. Do you think i should go with 2171. because i worked at client location as well in United states for 3 years. So based on 2171 duties i qualify for those duties as well. but duties i mentioned in this forum is real technical work i perform. so i thought i should go with 2281.

i can modify duties accordingly 2281 in more simpler way. i have below 2 set of duties, one is for 2281 i mentioned earlier.

If i will go with 2171, then i can show below duties, i am going to get affidavit from my supervisor
· Interaction with client for business requirement gathering and provide time/effort estimation
· Provide advice on project costs, design concepts and changes at infrastructure and web layer
· Develop, design and create new application, ideas, relationship or product including artistic contribution
· Collaborate with hardware engineer and software developers to select appropriate design solution and ensure the compatibility of system components
· Design and develop business logic forms writing scripts/queries for hybrid clod tools
· Engaged in project review and status meeting with prepare management reports
· Establish functional and system standards to ensure operational requirements and project requirements are fulfilled.
· Implement and end to end delivery of project and document technical issues and design architecture diagrams for new solutions implemented
· Understand business requirements , study existing infrastructure and application landscape to identify risks and security issues.

let me know your thoughts on it. Also i mentioned work history as below and i am on considering title while choosing NOC

I don't think the job duties you listed above matches to 2171 lead statement. Although it might be basic, you should have that as your central theme when you build your letter. All your experience needs to be like that if you are claiming points.

See if you really need to give all of your experience. CRS maxes out at 3 years of experience, and FSW points maxes out at 6 years. If you are meeting FSW criteria of 67 points with any experience between 3 to 6, you could just show that for points.
