NOC Category Confusion

Hi,

I have a doubt. I worked as a Sales Engineer for a company for around 2 years before going for MBA. After MBA, I am employed as an IT Consultant. I have worked for less than a month in this IT Company as of now.

The NOC Code for Sales Engineer is 6221 and for IT Consultant is 2171. Now, the question is, should I apply under NOC 6221 or NOC 2171. I intend to work as an IT Consultant only. But, as my experience is less than 1 year, I think applying under NOC 6221 would be better. I need some inputs on this.

Coming to the 2nd query, the form has to be couriered to CIC office. On the envelope, it is required that we mention the NOC Category. Is NOC Category the same as NOC Code? Should I treat it as the NOC Category or is NOC Category different from NOC Code?

If I decide to use NOC Code 6221, should I write NOC Category: 6221 or should I write something else too?

Hi Rohan. Are you applying under FSW 1 or do you have a job offer (FSW2)???? You cannot apply under FSW yet, as the new rules haven't been announced and no one knows which NOCs will be included in the coming year.

Fine based on the information given; you can't apply unless you have a job offer from Canada.

Do you have Canadian education or experience then other options are available.

I dont think what you're saying is correct. My points are more than 70. I have the settlement funds. I don't see any reason why I can't get a PR card without having a job offer !

It doesn't matter how many points you have. If your occupation does not appear on the desired occupations list, then you need a job offer to qualify to apply (as well as having at least 69 points).

This past year neither of your occupations was on the list. This means you would have needed a job offer in Canada to apply.

The new list of occupations should be released this week. It's entirely possible (and fairly likely) that this year's list will be the same/very similar to last year's list. If you're interested in immigrating through the FSW program, I would start looking for a job offer.

This NOC reached its cap in 5 days last year. Most of us expect the cap to be reached even faster this year. Are you ready to send your application next week or very early the following week? Do you have all of the forms completed, original IELTS results, letters from your employers, educational certificates/transcripts, other supporting documentation, etc.?

If your application won't be ready to send next week or early the following week - then I honestly wouldn't bother applying. Once the cap is reached, they will automatically return your application unprocessed.

All my documents are complete. My application package is ready. I had confusion regarding the NOC code only. Apart from that, all documents like IELTS result, Police Certificate, Educational Certificates are ready. I can send them tomorrow if need be.

Your experience / past employment must match the NOC you are applying for.

If you are asking if you should change your experience / job responsibilities to match what's required for NOC 1122, then no - I certainly would not suggest that.

If your past experience meets the requirements for NOC 1122, then by all means apply. But don't lie on your application.

Keep in mind that the letters from your employer must support your application under this NOC as well.

Fine immigration is stopped until 2013 january. till then you cant apply

the points system and work list will probably change
