Hello Everyone,

CEC Inland, currently on PGWP, completed bachelors in Canada.

I was wondering if any of you can help me clear my doubt - I have been working for a lighting manufacturing company for almost 15 months now and I am planning to apply for my PR under NOC 6221. Please see below the letter of employment from my company;

To whom it may concern,

I, XX, hereby certify that XX, has been hired by XX since January 29, 2018 as a Technical Support Specialist, and works full-time with a workload of 40 hours per week and an annual salary of $XX. He continues his employment at XX, under my supervision. Some of his annual benefits, provided by the company, include;

  • Eligibility to participate in the XX. Incentive Cash Compensation Plan,
  • Extended health benefits, including life, long term disability, extended health and dental care, etc.,
  • The company to match 100% of his own contributions to the voluntary XX Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (“RRSP”) up to a maximum of XX% of the eligible compensation,
  • XX vacation pay.
Some of the key duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to technical requests on commercial lighting from external lighting agents and internal staff,
  • Maintaining strong relationships with external sales agents to better assist in product selection,
  • Meet the needs of the customer by servicing commercial lighting product inquiries from contractors,
  • Hands-on evaluation of lighting systems, processing and assessing failed materials to determine root cause of technical/engineering issues,
  • Managing provincial utility lighting rebate programs as well as Canadian content for DLC and Energy Start qualified product lists.
Additionally, in order to maintain a high standard of service to our customers, XX is also responsible for participating in ongoing education sessions for technical and product knowledge.

XX’s job performance has been exceptional and I have received positive feedback of him from my customers. I firmly believe that XX has and will continue to make a positive contribution to our nation.

If you require further information regarding XX’s employment with XX, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
President.

Questions;
1. What are my chances of getting my PR approved based on this?
2. Are there any changes you'd recommend I make?

Thank you in advance.

The letter looks complete and appears to fit the NOC. However, your letter is a bit ambiguous about who the customer is, and that is crucial for this NOC - if you are claiming wholesale, then your job description must make it crystal-clear that the "customer" is other businesses, not the general public. If you serve the general public, that makes it "retail" and a different (ineligible) NOC.

Under "Benefits" - the wording of "XX vacation pay" suggests that you are paid an hourly wage (not an annual salary). If that is the case, that should be accurately described.- something like "Mr X earns a wage of XX.XX per hour, for annual earnings of XX,XXX in 2018." (or use past 12 months...)

Hello Jes_ON,

Thank you for your prompt and clear reply. Just a quick correction, I noticed I said that I was "planning" to apply implying that I haven't yet applied but I actually have already submitted this letter along with my PR application - I actually did that just past weekend. Sorry for the confusion and my mistake.

With that being said, I absolutely second what you mentioned - believe me, if I can rewind time, I would go and get my letter of employment corrected. Unfortunately, I think it is too late now. What do you think, with my letter missing key information you mentioned above, about my chances of getting PR approved?
