NOC 4012: How close does the title need to be to the description?

I am applying under 1 full year of work as a teaching assistant/research assistant. Those were my official titles. They do not exactly match the titles listed on the NOC 4012 site. My employer letter will clearly state that I worked as an assistant as a PhD student. Will this be enough? Or does it have to be an exact match.

The title itself doesn't matter as long as you were doing the majority of duties and responsibilities listed under NOC 4012. So, you don't have to match the job title and you'd better focus more on the duties and responsibilities part. Good Luck!
