NOC 2173/2174 advantages/disadvantages?

Hello there.

I work for a major semiconductor company writing firmware. However in the past I've worked with application programming, device drivers and also some scripting. So basically a mixed bag.

Under what NOC should I be filing my express entry application? Are these capped? Are there advantages of choosing one over the other?

You should check the duties listed on your reference letter and choose the NOC that has more duties matched with the duties in your letter.

Also, there is not only ONE NOC code...
You choose a different NOC code for every work experience where you are trying to claim points.

So, you may have one noc code for your past work experience and a new noc code for your current work experience.
