SAP Program/Project Manager

Our Public Sector client is currently seeking a senior SAP program/project manager to help with the planning, implementation and rollout of an enterprise wide project. This is a 27 month contract opportunity slated to begin ASAP. The successful candidate will be a strong process-oriented individual with excellent planning and implementation skills to manage a multiple phased high profile project.

Qualifications and Experience:


+ 5+ years experience as an SAP Program/Project Manager in Financials, Human Resources and Payroll projects, preferable in the public sector
+ Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of current project management methodologies, tools and techniques in SAP projects
+ Experience in mentoring, motivating and managing project team leads preferable in the project areas of configuration, development testing, training, communication and change management
+ Experience managing several aspects of project integration management to ensure proper coordination of scope, plans, development and integrated SAP change control
+ Experience managing teams of 50+
+ Experience generating reports and reporting work assignments progress against budget and assessing performance on a project basis
+ Demonstrated experience with the management and supervision of employees of various labor categories and skills on projects
+ Demonstrated experience in planning, directing and managing complex SAP technical implementation projects involving multiple cross-organizational temas and challenging technical environments
+ Experience managing projects implementing key NetWeaver products including Business Warehouse, Enterprise Portal and Business Objects
+ Experience in defining strategies, system requirements, design and prototyping, testing, training, support procedures and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines
+ Experience preferred in managing projects where the following support tools were used: SAP Quality Centre, SAP Test Acceleration and Optimization, ARIS, Test Data Migration Server and uPerform
+ Knowledge of Municipal Government work environment in highly desirable with preference for SAP public sector module (I,e, Funds Management)
+ SAP ECC Financials implementation experience with integration to Human Resources and Payroll
+ Experience with SAP Modules: Public Sector Management Funds/Management, Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Human Resources (HCM) including Payroll (PY)
+ ASAP Methodology experience
+ Min 4+ full lifecycle SAP implementations leading teams comprised of internal employees and vendor teams (external consultants) and 8+ years of project management experience
+ Min 7+ years in leading and executing enterprise wide SAP implementations

Demonstrated PM Abilities:


+ Demonstrated ability to develop a plan, charter and schedule
+ Expert use of MS Project
+ Demonstrated ability is preparing project documents,(e.g. business cases, project budgets, charters, risk assessments, change requests, plans, schedules etc.)
+ Experience in working with 3rd party vendor and their resources
Team Management Abilities:
+ Leading and facilitating meetings including team leads, core team, extended team, project steering committee, sponsors and other senior executive management.

Demonstrated ASAP and PMBOK Abilities:

+ Extensive knowledge in SAP project management practices (ASAP) and processes in their relation to PMBOK

+ Demonstrated ability in reviewing key SAP project deliverables including but not limited to: business requirements, business blueprint, development work lists, functional specifications, and development specifications, test/training master plans, cutover plans.

Job Description

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cost Control – Plan and prepare accurate project estimates. Establish cost reports for control of projects. Monitor and control all cost aspects of the project including forecasting costs, obtaining approvals, identifying trends and taking action to avoid cost overruns and identifying opportunities. Continual assessment of performance of cost control system and personnel.
Quality management – Define the project quality requirements. Ensure the right systems are in place and applied on the project. Develop a project schedule which allows work to be executed in logical sequences. Ensure compliance with IMV Projects policies and procedures.
HSE Management – Ensure compliance with all HSE procedures and that HSE requirements are documented and understood by all project participants.
Client Relationships – Identify, document and communicate client requirements. Effectively manage multiple stakeholders and maintain / develop healthy client relationships throughout the project and post-completion. Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost and schedule issues with the Client as they arise.
Scope Management – manage an effective handover from the Business Development Group. Clearly define scope and compliance with requirements of the contract. Effectively manage change control process application, project interfaces, including use of High Value Engineering Centres. Manage and monitors project performance to identify issues and opportunities early and seizing opportunities to take pre-emptive action.
Time Management – Manage the planning of all scope elements of the project. Develop resource and financial requirements from the project plan. Manage the design, procurement and construction activities to meet the project schedule. Routinely monitor the key reports and development of corrective action plans. Achieve timely and effective documentation turnover at project close-out.
Communications Management – Ensure accurate and timely progress reporting to the client and internally to IMV Projects management. Ongoing monitoring of the communication network between project staff, the client and third parties and introduction of changes where required.
Design Management – Set clear objectives for the design team. Ensure design team is aware of, and complies with client’s Basis of Design and applicable regulations and codes. Monitor design activities, inter-discipline data flow and communications.
Procurement/Subcontracts Management – Set clear objectives for procurement and subcontracts team. Assess procurement process through the project to ensure goods meet specifications and are delivered on time and within budget.
Construction Management – Set clear objectives for the Construction team. Monitor the Construction Management function to ensure safe delivery of the project within cost and schedule objectives.
Team Management – Provide clear and focussed leadership for the project team to create a vision for project success and a strategy to fit that vision. Focus on achievement of milestones and other key project objectives. Provide mentoring and participates in staff performance evaluations.
Desired Skills & Experience

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:
15+ years in the industry with 5+ years as a Project Manager
Experience with facilities engineering
Heavy Oil or SAGD experience
EPCM experience in a senior project management or senior project engineering project role
Solid understanding of EPCM Project Execution work processes
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Strong communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentations
