Hello,

I have a job offer as a post-doctoral fellow in Ontario, on which it is written that I will need a work permit.
However, when ansewring the various questions on the immigration website in the "apply to come to Canada / Work permit" section, the only choice I get at the end is:

Foreign Worker - International Mobility Program (visitor's visa required + no work permit)

Which is in clear contradiction with the job offer I have.
And I am asked to prove that I dont need a work permit, which I can't do, because I believe I need a work permit.

Is there anything I am missing in the application process? I tried to triple check every answer I give but if I answer correctly to the questions I have no way to actually apply for my work permit.

This is quite confusing, did anyone experience the same issue?
Thank you for your help!

Hi zardoz, thank you for you reply.

I saw this page but I am not sure what is the correct choice for my situation (post-doctoral fellow in a university with a 2 years contract).
Do you know how I can be sure ?

for all I know, the closest match is the short term skilled worker, however I am going to work more than the limit for this option, so I guess my job is not in the list, which means I need a work permit ?

Correct. I pointed you there because your employment is not in the list, and should take you to the work permit application pages.

Indeed it does,
however from these pages there are instructions on how to apply and everything seems fine,
but to actually access the application I need to connect with my account that leads me to the dashboard with my current applications, messages and various informations on my account.

I then proceed to "apply to come to canada" and then select the option containing "work permit".

This leads me to a series of questions to which I answer accurately. At the end of the series of question, I get as only option the one I cite in the original message of this thread,

Foreign Worker - International Mobility Program (visitor's visa required + no work permit)

This is really confusing...

Hi Efulas,
I found the solution for my case,
I had a wrong answer at the second pages of questions, "Do you plan to work in one of the following categories?"
with a long list of categories.

I thought I did because of the "Highly-skilled workers and researchers" section,
however when reading the link next to it Global skills strategy , there is a limit in the number of days worked, and so I had to answer No to this question.

Then the form let me apply for my work permit

I hope this helps!
Good luck!
