No wedding or ceremony yet!

In the sections of the application where it asks if we've engagement ceremony, wedding ceremony, reception, honeymoon, does going out for dinner with family and friends numerous times count as a engagement ceremony?
It may not have been anything fancy or like a typical engagement ceremony but that is what our engagement celebration was.

And we have not had an official wedding ceremony or reception yet because what we'd like to do is save up more money for the wedding and receive my spouse's visa then have our wedding ceremony in Canada, even if it means we have to wait a while.

Can I write exactly what I have just said above in the application? I don't know if immigration will find that part suspicious or something but there is absolutely no lying in that and that is exactly what we would like to do.

I'm not sure what office you are out of...some are likely more prone to suspecting marriage fraud than others...when you apply make sure you have a lot if evidence of your relationship...letters from family acknowledging your relationship and marriage couldn't hurt either.

I'm not sure what office you are out of...some are likely more prone to suspecting marriage fraud than others...when you apply make sure you have a lot if evidence of your relationship...letters from family acknowledging your relationship and marriage couldn't hurt either.

I agree with you. Some VO are very suspicious even if you have done full ceremony etc etc they would ask for more evidence. What is your VO?

Letters from family, friends or even fellow workers would be great. Joint bank accounts, money transfers, emails. chat logs, phone call records etc etc. If you guys have traveled together then tickets, boarding pass and photos. Utility bills or ay property/ asset you both share. These are all sort of evidence you can collect.

Just be honest and don't lie...they will hunt u down

I think a lot of explainations are required. I didnt have an engagement ceremony either and explained that it was because both has been married before and didnt think it was necessary and also we didnt have time to plan for one as he was here for a 3 weeks visit when he proposed.

Our wedding ceremony was also minimal, I only had 40 guest for the registration and solemnisation (in the town i work, didnt have many annual leave left around the date we chose) and around 150 for the actual ceremony at my hometown. To fly everyone everytime was costly and we didnt have the budget and that was explained as well. But then again both sets of parents and siblings attended so we were kind of covered there.

Perhaps you can explain the background of your relationship and why you didnt tell your parents about it in the same explanatory note. Just include other evidence of a genuine relationship (continuous communications evidence (i.e phone bills, skype, chats, fb, photos, cards, beneficiary proofs, letters from friends and family) and pray for the best.

A lot of people are away from eachother when applying but in my case, I came to to Japan to live with my spouse for the past year and a half. I will be going back to Canada in a few weeks. I am a PR so I must be in Canada when I am sending out the application. This is why I find it so difficult to find more evidence I can provide other than a few photos, my passport indicating I came to Canada, and proof that I resided here with my spouse.

So we don't have emails, skype, letters, etc. Struggling to find what else I can provide for evidence......

My Visa office is Missisauga. I think after my sponsorship is accepted they will send it to Tokyo.

my husband came and lived with me for 8 months before our wedding and during that time we travelled a lot and took lotsa of pictures especially when he accompanies me on business trips, family functions, festives seasons etc. We also still communicate via Facebook and Gtalk and BBM when I am at work and he is at home. We had letters signed by colleague, friends and family acknowledging our relationship is genuine, we included letters from my employer verifying he is now my spouse, medical benefits (card) extended to him, club membership extended to him as my spouse etc. He's now back in Canada and we maintain records of the communications for interview stage (if any) later. Hope that helps with what you can include.

Proof that you resided together is better than emails and Skype. You can get affidavits from the landlord, family members, and friends stating that you two lived together and that they believe the relationship is genuine.

I totall agree with that. We never had phone bills to show that we are calling each other ( that is expensive ). No chats to show for our first one and a half years (laptop is new) and I just printed 5 emails. And we never used Skype. And I got approved after 3 months.

The thing is, there are more proof that has more weight than emails and Skype. And I am pretty sure you have lots of that since you two lived together.
